Researchers are using Wii Fit to physically rehabilitate football players at University of Maryland and Ohio State University. Why is this so successful? I have some ideas as to why.

Check out this video for those ideas and see the link below for the Washington Post article.

I think this is a great idea, not on is the Wii inexpensive it is also something that everyone can use for this sort of application. Having gone through physical therapy myself several times I can say if I was able to use a Wii I would have stuck with it, physical therapy can be frustrating but the Wii makes it fun and would have motivated me to continue on with the therapy. I wonder though if the Microsoft Kinect will see such uses.

If you don’t mind me asking, what sort of therapy did you do and for what injury?

I have to say my husband was skeptical about the Wii for exercise but once he tried it he broke into a sweat. It truely can help you get fit , but like anything else your gym membership and the weights you bought and left in the basement for years … If you don’t use it you can’t see any results…

It’s easy and the best is the Wii fit game actually makes you feel guilty when you don’t use it… It will remind you about your goals and if other members in the household are using the system more than you!!! I love it.. which reminds me I have to get on it tonight…l0l!!!
