About
Game Culturalist is a socially aware blog about video games. It’s not a blog about previews, reviews or the latest news. (There’s plenty of blogs out there for that.) That’s not to say reviews will never appear on this website. However, games will be looked at in terms of concept, execution and emotional impact rather than merely graphics and replayability.
This website aims examine how gaming culture affects topics such as gender, race, art, music and society. At the same time, it explores how those same factors in turn affect gaming culture. Game Culturalist will do what other blogs do not. It goes beyond the pixel and into the real world and back.*
Discussions on the website take place in three ways:
1. People are free to write comments in any post to discuss their views on any given topic.
2. People can feel free to e-mail us
3. Something new to the world of blogging: people can send us YouTube videos. Each post will have a link to a YouTube video where people can hear us talk about the main points of a post and they can send us video replies. Here’s what we mean:
We want to bring up interesting topics but more importantly, we want to keep the conversation going.
* All seriousness outside, yes there will also be some funny, weird and just plain crazy posts too. We are talking about video games after all!
